Assessing your ICT needs

Nowadays, community sector organisations rightly regard information and communications technology (ICT) as part of their basic organisational infrastructure — as essential as the telephones, filing cabinets, and skilled staff they have always valued. But moving into the digital age can be challenging for organisations with limited resources and technical expertise. We may know what we need to be able to do, but not what we need to be able to do it.

An ICT audit or health check can bring an expert eye to your system and indicate what needs to change to support your future goals and needs. This seminar discussed different approaches to ICT needs assessments and how to choose the appropriate one for you.

Larry Stillman and Stefanie Kethers (Centre for Community Networking Research, Monash University) described the action research approach that has been used successfully in the Doing IT Better case studies over the last two years.
Jason King (Infoxchange) discussed the ICT audit methodology that is currently being used in the Infoxchange's MeasureIT project.
